I am at my wits end and cannot seem to find a similar problem via google, so I am comming here for help.
Here is what is happening. Every time I shut down my computer, it seems to shut down normally, however, a few seconds after it appears to have totally shut down, the leds on the front of the case start flickering. If I have my speakers turned on, a sound comes from them similar to a burping noise. (blup blup blup is about the closest I can describe).
I have a custom built system that consists of:
Asus PC400 E delux motherboard
P4 3ghz cpu
several SATA drives
400wat power supply (cant remember the brand right now)
Thermaltake tsunami dream case.
The first symptoms I noticed was the sound comming from the speakers, so my first trouble shooting step was to unplug the speakers. That is when I noticed the case LEDs lighting up and flickering as well. I recently had installed a cheap sound blaster, so I tried removing that and also noticed that when it is flickering, the case fans seem to be jumping. It seems as if there is power flickering onto the motherboard when it is off.
What could be causing this?
My only guess at this time is a bad capacitor somewhere storing power or a bad ground somewhere not realeasing it all. I'm at my wits end and am begging for help.
