[SOLVED] Computer freezes, sound keeps playing. Have to hold power button to turn off.

My computer freezes when I play games but the sound continues to play. Some games seem to crash out aswell. I'm out of ideas of what can be the cause. Temperatures seem to be steady.

1080 TI 11GB

i7-8700k

16 GB DDR4-3000 RAM

z370-E Motherboard

850 watt PSU

Windows 10 Pro

Maybe there is not problem in your hardware but in the software ( Game )?

Try verifying the integrity of the game / Game Files.
Hard to tell what could cause this issue to occur.

It seems to happen on multiple-but not all-games, sadly. Will try though!

Continuing on this-my graphics card, processor, and ram usage-even on the highest settings on these games don't go over 80%. I've also tried to run these games on the lowest possible settings, still resulting in the freezes.

So far, Divinity Original Sin 2 and Rust freeze my pc. Divinity is not at all a demanding game, and my specs should be able to run Rust at max graphics either way. Plus I've tried to run these games at the lowest settings as I said. Also Apex Legends seems to crash now, but not freeze my pc.

Sounds like maybe your gpu driver is crashing, have you overclocked your gpu or is it running stock clocks?

test your gpu with gpu-z rendering option and when it crash see witch driver he use you might try to use the os generic driver to see if it crash .
