I just installed a Seagate drive ST12000VNA008. I have a Samsung SSD that my OS and programs are installed to, this is the drive where all of my personal files are located, and then I have an external backup drive.
I'm on Windows 10 and never have any issues over the last few years. I build my own computers.
Ever since I installed the Seagate drive my computer freezes up every few hours.
I checked the power settings in Windows and set the hard drive to never turn off. I've checked the event viewer log and didn't see anything there.
Last thing I've done is to run a program that keeps reading/writing to that hard drive. With that running I'm not getting the computer freezes.
I've seen some talk about these hard drives not spinning up/waking properly after spinning down.
Is there a way to change this? Or do you think there is another issue?
