Hello everyone,

for quite some time now my computer has been making weird noises and i sometimes get crashes and BSODs. Sometimes after the BSODs when the PC boots up, the hard drive is not recognized and i have to shut down my computer for a few minutes and then boot it back up.
In video games / regular pc usage i often get lag spikes and weird noises (lag spikes often happen at the same time as the click sound in the video below)

I ran chkdsk multiple times and it showed no errors but then i ran CrystalDiskInfo and this showed up:
What does a high seek error rate mean?

Please help me.
Is my HDD dead?

EDIT: Well now it has gotten worse for some reason.
I got 4 BSODs in the past 2 hours and they are always different ones:
  • CRITICAL PROCESS DIED
  • KERNEL DATA INPAGE ERROR
  • UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION

It's time to replace the drive, either new or warranty.

Oh, that an old Hitachi made Toshiba drive, looks like you'll be getting a new drive. Even if its still under the 5 yr warranty the 'New' Toshiba Corp* wont work with you on getting it RMA'd. There is a website they might direct you to but it doesn't work unless you have access to a really old version of Ie (ie7 I think I used)

*Toshiba HDD was split off as it's own company after Western Digital bought Hitachi's HDD business.

Ah its a shame that is not under warranty anymore. I bought the PC prebuilt because i didnt have time to pick parts myself ( Never again, worst decision ever) but i will just buy a new HDD. All this time i thought my RAM was the problem so i took one of the sticks out ( I had 16GB DDR4 2400mhz Dual Channel ) and my MEMORY_MANAGEMENT Bsods stopped but i still had lag spikes. Now it looks like it is the HDD.

Thank you for the answer.

Toshiba and Hitachi have always been separate companies. AIUI, Toshiba and WD agreed to swap Toshiba's unused 2.5" HDD factory in Thailand for access to HGST's 3.5" technology. This was to mitigate the Chinese government's anti-trust concerns at the time of the proposed merger of WD and HGST.

This is more in-line with the way I remember it unfolding.

My new Seagate 1TB HDD just arrived and i replaced my old one. My computer needed 20 minutes to boot up. It was stuck on the windows loading screen. When in finally boot up i went to install the disk and create a new partition which for some reason did not work. It initialised and showed blue on Disk Management but it still didnt show up in My Computer. I decided to shut down my pc and restart but it has now been stuck on the Shutting Down screen for 15 minutes. Can someone explain to me what is happening? I have Windows installed on my SSD not my HDD? But all i did was change my "faulty" HDD and i am still having problems.
