It's an example of what happens when from Acer-64 to Acer2 I attempt to connect. Same problem Dell to Acer2. No problems with Acer2 to the other two.
Did some research and found a possible cause was Windows Credentials. I took a look at all 3 machines and none had any listed, so I put all three on each of the machine's credentials. By then, the ice storm hit TX and I had to hunker down . A bit hectic but today things seem to be working better after doing the Credentials thing. Before that had problems both ways from Acer2 but when I added credentials, did not know if I should list all three on each machine or just the 2 unexclusive machines to each. Right now, all three machines list all three machine's credentials.

I hope this is enough good information and thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you for the kind reply. I went to each machine's credentials. I confirmed each machine held credintials for all 3 machines. This was discerning because machine name and password were required. So, for names, used ACER-64, DELL-64, and ACER2 for names. Each machine has the same password .... of 9 characters which I provided but on the next step, only showed 6 dots(!!!). I have 'worried' about this ever since.

In any case, I proceeded to the end, rebooted each machine, and still have the problem but with different scenarios.
ACER2 sees itself, and the DELL-64 and the ACER-64. Works entirely as it should.
ACER-64 sees itself, errors to DELL-64, and errors to ACER2.
Dell-64 sees itself, errors to ACER2, and sees ACER-64

Hard (for me) to understand the relationships and the results of the testing. It is not always the same results. I don't know if names are case sensitive for one thing. Each machine name is in all caps everywhere I look.

I might have some credentials invalid but I don't think so. Right now, I have all names in caps as indicated on each machine. Still the passwords come up short of some characters where it shows DOTS for the entered passwords. Sorry to be so inadequate. These machines have been networked for years and this is the first time I have had the problem and have never dealt with 'credentials' before now. Ever. When I undertook providing credentials, each machine at first listed NONE. Thank you again for your help I hope it can continue.

EDIT: Running SFC and DISM utilities just now. Dell is still running, but the other two came up clean. I'm assuming Dell will come up clean. If it doesn't I will state that it didn't on my next visit here.

That's a security measure to ensure that anyone looking over your shoulder can't ascertain the actual number of characters in the password by simply counting the dots.
Thank you!! I figured the DOTS accomplished that ..... but the number of them being hidden as well as the characters is a step forward. Just never ran into it before. Dots yes. Hidden dots no. Thank you again.
