Computer not reading cpu model

So when i first got my computer it read my cpu fine then aboue 1.5 years ago i got a new one and ever since it has said amd model unkown i asked my friend because he is good with computers and he said when i reinstall windows it should be fine i finnaly did so and it still says the same thing im just woundering if there is any way to fix it.

cpu: AMD athlon 64 X2 6000+
motherboard: ASUS M2N4-sli

THe CPU ID is read by the Bios on the MOBO so if the BIOS is older than the CPU it is likely that you would need a BIOS update in order for it to recognize the CPU (doesn't mean it will not work properly but it will not show the name of the chip properly unless it is programmed into the BIOS info.

In looking at ASUS's website there have been 9 Bios revisions on that MOBO so chances are you are using one that predates the release of your CPU.
