[SOLVED] computer performance degrading

same thing is happening to my 2012 mac book pro i cant even run the most simple of games

What have you done or checked to see what might be causing the sluggish performance? Did this happen suddenly or has it been gradual? Install anything new recently?

I take it you've been updating the OS? With iPhones/iPads/Mac's... the older they get & the more updates that get released, the slower it makes the older devices(yet has "performance/bug fixes" for newer models). I would run the Apple Hardware Test/Diagnostics and see if there's any hardware issues. As well as run Disk Utility.

Also, Macs can get infected these days. I'd also recommend running some virus scans. ESET, Malwarebytes and Kaspersky all have decent anti-virus/malware applications(trial versions also) that you can run. I've seen a few Macs get infected worse then Windows PC's.
