Computer restarts when playing games

My computer sometimes turns off then restarts itself when I am playing games. It seems like it only happens when something intense happens (two planets exploding in universe simulator and battle in Witcher 3).

Most likely the PSU is bad, but frankly no 'test' can really tell you if it's bad or not. Check Event Viewer for the error that is thrown when your PC reboots. If it is a Kernel Power error then most probably it's your power supply that needs replacement.


If the PC was working fine until the last time you shut it down(that is the only problem was the random restarting, but nothing else), then hopefully everything should still be fine. No way to say for sure though, it just depends on how bad the power supply was performing. I've had a bad PSU kill the entire motherboard, hard drive, RAM and CPU cooler, so of course your parts were at risk, but let's hope this doesn't happen to you :).
