Hello, dear forum members,
I’ve had my computer for about five years, and recently I’ve encountered a problem:
Under load, for example, when I’m playing a game, my PC shuts down after about 30 minutes of gameplay. I don’t get a bluescreen or any error message—my PC (I assume it’s the power supply) just makes a clicking noise and turns off instantly. I can’t switch it back on immediately; I have to turn off the power supply, wait for about a minute, and then I can restart it. When I boot it back up, I don’t get any error messages (e.g., no warning that the PC wasn’t shut down properly or anything like that).
My first thought was that maybe a component is overheating. I recently replaced my Corsair H115i water cooler with a beQuiet Pure Loop 3 because my old cooler had failed.
To test, I used Cinebench to fully load the CPU and Furmark to fully load the GPU, and I monitored the temperatures in HWinfo. But I couldn’t detect any abnormalities here. CPU and GPU temperatures remained consistently between 60 and 70 °C. Nevertheless, my PC shut down again after about 30 minutes.
Now, there’s another strange issue: after some crashes, my second monitor stops working. It comes out of standby (I can tell because the backlight turns on) but displays no image. Even when I connect a different device or use a different input, it shows no picture. I also can’t access the monitor’s menu, e.g., to change the input. Turning it off and on again or unplugging it doesn’t help. After about an hour, though, it starts working again.
Has anyone here experienced a similar issue or have any ideas on what might be causing this?
Best regards
