[SOLVED] Computer shuts off randomly

I'm seeing a bunch of these threads around. Most of it is fresh off of the first experience of the issue. It's been reoccurring for me.

No clue why it's happening to be honest. At first, I thought this was a temperature issue so I increased the number of fans in my computer and cranked them up as high as possible. I also checked to make sure they were all clean and turned them all up as high as possible. That didn't solve the issue.

I also thought it might be a power supply issue so I replaced that but still no luck. I have more power coming into my computer than I need so it's not that I'm running low.

The odd thing about this situation is that the temperature at which it shuts down is not consistent. It used to shut down when the CPU hit about 80C but it has happened around 50C as well. I'm replacing the thermal paste tomorrow to see if that might help.

It also will shut off when I use certain inputs when playing games. For example, applying a change to the screen resolution in some games will cause a shut off the moment I hit apply.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

If you've already replaced the PSU and the issues are coming especially during video settings, I'd say it's likely your GPU.

Is your RAM made up of different sticks? What is your PSU?

My power supply is as follows

EVGA 700 B1, 80+ BRONZE 700W, 3 Year Warranty, Includes FREE Power On Self Tester Power Supply 100-B1-0700-K1.

If it were my GPU, I don't think it would be an overheating issue The GPU stays at around 40C max even in-game. This issue has been occurring even if I'm just letting my computer install things and doing literally nothing else.

Replace the thermal paste and see. Run memtest on each stick individually multiple times and also use DDU to cleanly uninstall the GPU drivers and then re install them just to be safe.

Do you have a friend with a better quality PSU? Try borrowing it and seeing if the problem persists. If you have an SSD, look for firmware updates for the drive.

A CPU hitting 80C is not overheating, as a matter of a fact, 80C is considered to be normal operating temps when under load. A failing GPU will however cause your PC to shut down.
