Then you can see your temperatures. Or ones like CPU-Z.

sounds like the scent of electronics roasting over an open flame. You're going to have to swap components out until you find the culprit. I'd start with your power supply.

Although do not be misguided by which components smell bad; for example, chances are its your PSU, however it might not smell as bad as your motherboard is, because the mother board is being fried by the shit PSU.
Just look for the source of the problem; not the smell problem.
I have a Corsair CX750M, so not really "shitty", but it definitely could be the issue.
Every company has its mistakes and flaws; no one is perfect. Even if there's a chance of one out of a million, you still could be that one out of a million.
In my experience with computer hardware, it is much MUCH much better to be on the safe side, rather than keep guessing and basing your conclusions on the "rate" of a company.
