computer started using more ram

so i forgot to shut down my computer went i left for a week and my sister in-law was using it now the computer is using 20% of the ram when at idle it ran at 6 or 7 % what would be i good place to look for the problem? i ran virus scan already i am running a 1-5 2500k with 8 gb of gskill ram

Task manager.. look at the tasks/processes running and see whats using up your memory make sure you click option to show processes for all users).

Then you need work out if you need them to be running or not and take it from there.
