Hi, I'm having an issue where my computer's audio and video stutters for 3 to 4 seconds seemingly every few hours. I don't have my own recording, but this video from 0:37 to 0:40 kind of shows what the audio sounds like. The rest of the video doesn't apply and their video is smoother than mine during the stuttering - my video matches the audio stutters. The stutters seem to happen whenever, regardless if i'm playing a game, watching a video, browsing the internet, or just sitting at my desktop.

I've made sure my drivers are updated.

Pretty sure. I disabled it before and stopped the samsung magician and RAPID services when I ran the last test. Unless it somehow re-enabled itself, it should have been off. When I started magician up just now, it even said something about that RAPID service is missing and to fix it I need to disable and reenable.

I'm clicking the reply button below the post I'm replying to. That last one though I must have misclicked and did a general reply by accident. The other replies where I didn't quote anyone were not directed to anyone specifically, so I didn't click reply on anyones previous posts.

I just found this thread and I'm having exactly the same issue as you described. Stutters for around 3 seconds randomly throughout the day (Once or multiple times a day).
Started happening to me around a month ago and I still didn't find what the issue is. Around a week after I upgraded my CPU and updated my BIOS

Tried fully reinstalling windows a week ago, but it didn't help.
Really hard to pinpoint the actual cause of this issue.

My specs:
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro (10.0.22000)
  • Motherboard: X570 AORUS ELITE
  • CPU: Ryzen 5950X
  • GPU: GIGABYTE RTX 3070 LHR GAMING OC
  • Memory: G.SKILL TRIDENT Z NEO (2x16 GB) 3600MHz (Running only one stick because the other stick died week ago)
  • Storage:
    • Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus
    • Samsung SSD 870Q QVO
  • Acessories (That where plugged for all that time)
    • Logitech G305 Lightspeed
    • Elgato Wave:3
    • Durgod keyboard
Software that might be a possible cause: (They are on 24/7)

that has to be rapid, a SATA ssd max speed is 550mb. RAPID is a ram drive. So explains speed.

@Serverator I would start your own thread about problem instead of adding to someone elses, it reduces confusion and its not really fair to hijack a thread :)

Hi again. I replaced the failing seagate drive and still have stutters. if it matters, the seagate drive is still installed in my PC, but it's disabled so nothing can use it. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

That will tell is if its a program to blame or not. I doubt it, as latency is drivers, not programs.

Do you have latest bios on motherboard? There was a problem with AMD boards but I am not sure if it extends to X470. That advice goes for both of you.

Just took out the drive and booted into safe more. Will have to wait and see if stuttering persists. I'm starting to think it is a driver issue too.

I have the latest stable bios for my motherboard. There was a reddit post awhile back that had a beta build I could download - now it looks like they just posted the beta on the support page the 15th of this month. I haven't downloaded it because I was debating on if I should or not, I heard they can be buggy sometimes.

I'll report back if the stuttering still persists even in safe mode.
 
The most likely reason UBM and CDM are showing those big numbers is rapid mode.

It may also be the reason UBM fails the testing of that disk.

I booted into safe mode and redid a UBM benchmark. I guess the GPU is disabled or something, so it failed a benchmark test, but the all drives now finished and the 860 passed with great performance.

I saw your post on another forum about this with the TPM issue. The stuttering issue shown in a video is exactly what I have, and now that I'm thinking of it, I did enable it awhile back which might coincide when I started having the stuttering issue. I fully disabled TPM now since I don't need it as I don't use any encryption stuff or have Windows 11. I just played a game for about 4 hours today and didn't have any stuttering, which usually happens at least once in a session that long. So my issue might have been solved by turning off TPM in the bios. I'll reply back if I still experience stuttering or mark my reply as solved if in the next few days I don't have anymore stuttering.

I appreciate everyone's time and help in trying to solve my issue.

Why did you have tpm on if you don't use win 11?

I updated to the F37c which is newest BIOS on my motherboard tonight, am hopeful it fixes the one stutter I get. After saying sound drivers may have, it happened last night. I was not amused.

Figured.

I switched it on in prep from windows 11, but then decided against getting windows 11 right away, and then just left it on/forgot to turn it off until then.

That sucks... I know the pain of trying yet another fix attempt and it not working...
 
Update your bios to the latest one. Clear CMOS (properly). This could be the stuttering introduced in earlier bios.

I already have the latest official release. The newest one is a beta and I heard betas can have bugs. Is it worth it to get beta bios?

Plus, if just turning off TPM fixes it for me, I don't know if I want to mess with anything now. Still testing if it worked or not.

Yes, if it's the latest one, and tpm fixes it, then leave as is. Ye,s you are correct, the betas can be buggy. Keep an eye out for the official release of the bios.

It looks like TPM was my issue. I've played multiple hours two days now and haven't had a single stutter.
