Computer turning off and on by itself?

In the middle of doing anything on my computer, I hear the fans turn off then on instantly and the power light stays on...I used to have overheating issues so at first I thought that was the case but when overheating it turned off completely and didn't turn back on. Once the fans weren't going on but the light was still on and the fans occasionally started up just to turn back off...Could this be a powersupply issue of some sort perhaps?

If you have to turn off the power to the power supply, and then turn it back on before you can get the computer to get any power, then a protection circuit in the power supply is tripping.

What brand, model, and capacity of power supply do you have?
And list the rest of the hardware in your system as well please.

Psu is very weak for a being advertised as 600w. Your setup is going to stress the 12v rail. I'd say it's giving up.

Whats a good/cheap psu I could get to replace it that has enough wattage to supply my system
