Hey all,
I have a agining system that has worked pretty good until as of late. Here are the current specs:
Motherboard: Asus A8V-X VIA K8T800pro/VT 8251
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 +3700 2.5ghz socket 939
Video Card: 512mb Sapphire Radeon HD3850 agp
Memory: 2gb OCZ Platinum DDR pc3200
Sound Card: VIA Envy24 HF
Hard Drive: 200gb/500gb(x2) Western Digital 7200rpm 8mb cache IDE and 500gb Seagate USB External (1.7tb Total)
Operating System: Windows XP 32bit with SP3
Basically I am in a situation where I am not going to have extra money to save up for a whole new system build any time soon. Have to pay off my credit card first. I have about $200ish to work with a possible system upgrade.
So here is the situation....with the comp I have posted I can run games like Crysis at 1280x1024 with medium settings and Far Cry 2 at 1280x1024 at high settings at about 30 to 50fps, with some dips in the 20's at times. I have recently picked up Dawn of War 2, I can run it pretty good with decent settings as long as all players are human. But when you add CPU players, it all goes to hell and I lag everyones game even on lowest settings. I know that my processor is the weakest part of the computer by far. So I was looking around on Newegg and found a possible option for an upgrade. Here are the parts:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157115
They are like $180ish with shipping. I know that they are not the best parts ever, but it works my DDR 1 memory and AGP Graphics Card. So do you guys think that this is worth it? Any info would be great! Just remember that I will not have ANY money to save up for a new comp untill at least next year. I just need something that I will allow me to play games better, not looking with max out at 1680x1050 with AA and AF or everything! I just want to get better performance than what I have now with the money I have a available. Thanks Guys!
