When I try to boot, I just get a "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device". How do I fix this.

I have an i5 and a biostar h61 board. The hdd is a 1t black western digital.

Hello there, Dizzyhitman!

Can you hear the drive spinning up? I'd advise you to check the boot priority in the BIOS settings and make sure it is properly configured to boot from the WD Black. I'd also check the connections to the HDD and even re-seat them just to be sure that it's mounted correctly.
I'd also make sure you have the latest SATA controller and chipset drivers for your motherboard from the manufacturer's official website or the Drivers pack CD that came with it.
If none of these work, you should also try resetting BIOS and connecting the WD Black to a different computer and monitor its behavior there.

Keep me posted. :)

If you enter the BIOS, can you see it listed?
If when you boot, can you boot to the boot source selector screen? (Usually F8)
If you see it listed and try to boot from it and you get the same error, then your HDD is faulty... and the system cannot read the boot sector.

Yes, I can see it listed and I can get into the bios. I am gonna get a hdd to usb connector tomorrow and test my hard drives. If its broken is their anyway to recover the information on it.
