Hello,

This is my third time building a PC. I've plugged in all the connectors etc.. but when I press the power on button, nothing happens.

I've replaced the PSU with another one but still no luck.

Anyone know how to fix the problem?

What do you mean by "arcing the power pins?" I've reset cmos clock and still nothing. All the steps that were in the tutorial, I've checked and it is all correct. Power supply works as I tested it in another computer.

Only thing I can think of is the motherboard itself. The motherboard was kept away for about 5 months. I put the motherboard back in the plastic bag it came in, put the plastic CPU cover and placed back in the box.

Do you think the motherboard could be the problem?

Have you made sure that the CPU is actually on the board correctly, there has been a few school boy errors i have come across in my past where people have put it on the board and then the heat sink on top but not realized the cpu needs to be locked in via the clips on the board.

something simple but if this occurs the machine will power on for a brief moment and do nothing after.

also if you are getting any power but nothing is happening sometimes it just requires a keyboard and mouse plugged in. i know it sounds stupid but it happened the other day for me and i forgot sometimes the simplest of things need to be done.

Probably not the best term, basically you short the two power connectors for a split second to start the board. I use the term arcing so as not to insinuate "jumping" which implies leaving the connection (at least in my thinking)

I'm leaning in that direction here

The CPU is correctly positioned, I even double checked with the manual. It also locked in place, and the heatsink applied is correctly fitted.

I plugged them all in and there was still no luck.

Thanks though.

Alright then, I'll give that a go and see if it works.
