I have an ASUS Streix raid pro and i installed it yesterday on my computer on my pcie 4 slot on my asrock z97 mobo using a dual molex to 6 pin adapter because my gpu is using the only 2 6 pins i had.

This morning I took my sound card out because I wanted to put it in the pcie 1 slot instead so it is above my gpu and not underneath it where thr fans are but now my computer won't detect my sound card.

I tried putting it back in the original pcie 4 slot where i first had it but computer still won't detect it. I've tried to reinstall the driver but the installation gets so far and says error no sound card device detected. The led on the sound card is on inside the tower so it must be recieing power but my pc won't detect it I don't know what to do.

It's a bit tricky but can be done but I've never renamed devices.

Reinstalling windows is another way.

The numbers just represents how many times the device has been installed. I wouldn't worry about it. I thought you had multiple separate entries of the same device. The number won't hurt anything.

No the distortion is still there and people can hear them selves through my mic when they talk and I keep cutting out through sentences apparently and if I turn my mic up too high it goes crazy and starts making weird loud noises but I didn't want to bother you with anymore of my problems because you've already helped me out so much

Before getting this new headset and soundcard I was using hyper x cloud 2s with my moobs onbroard realtek audio driver and had no issues with them at all. I regret buying the soundcard and headset now they're just causing so many problems

I have the software installed yes with the latest driver. I can try that when I'm home from work sure. If the mic is OK in the mobo does that mean it's a faulty soundcard or just that having both max volume on windows and max volume on the volume box fir my headset and mic is causing it

Possibly volume or a setting somewhere like mic boost or audio cancellation. There should be quite a few options to explore in the asus software and windows recording menu to trial. I don't think your headphones or sound card is faulty.

Ok thankyou I will have to have a play around with it
What about the feint breezy sound when I have all the volumes at max but with no audio playing. Is that just because I have bith windiws volume and headset volume at max

Yeah, Asus has it's own amp and volume control, if the buzzing stops if you lower windows volume then there's too much volume.

To clarify if Asus and Windows are separate volumes, check if Windows volume slider changes with Asus's volume slider or vice versa.

No it doesn't change I can turn volume up or down from my headsets volume box thing and it doesn't change windows volume. Like I could put windows volume to 20 turn my headset volume up by the box to max and it doesn't make my windows volume increase to max

Yeah, similar to me playing music from a computer to an av receiver, i cant have pc volume or base too high as it adds extra to the amp and speakers/sub endup distorting. With your headphone speakers inside would be no different.

Does that noise stop if you lower Windows volume?

There is, the volume slider in asus interacts with my headsets volume control box. Ok so basically the noise in headset is just having both volumes at max to conflict and cause it and the horrible noise my mic makes is probably the same thing, having it maxed on my box and in windiws?

Does the Asus software volume slider interact with Windows volume slider? That's what i meant in an earlier question. If Asus and Windows are independent volumes try one or the other really low volume and turn the control pod's volume high. Adjust Asus software volume before that noise starts.

Hopefully if this volume tinkering works the only thing left is the number (4) thing I was talking about earlier that is bothering me. Probably an ocd thing just because I'd like it to just say strix without a number next to it like it did originally but I don't dare do a fresh reinstall of Windows and I don't dare do a restore to earlier date incase it messes my sound card up again haha
