I made a thread about this last week. This happened exactly a week ago.

My computer was working fine last Sunday night. Nothing to indicate any problems. I turn it off. The next morning I turn it back on, and it won't even get to BIOS. There are no system beeps, and the dram LED stays lit on my Asus mobo. I use the memok button, I try every possible combination of memory sticks and slots, I reset CMOS, I take my video card off, nothing works. I disconnect my PSU from everything and hook it up to an older computer to see if it even works, and it does (although the only reply in my last thread said that this wasn't a good test of my PSU). I leave everything unhooked for the rest of the day.

The next day I hook it all back up and try it again, just for the hell of it, and it works fine, boots up, like nothing was ever wrong. I assume that somehow there was a loose connection that I had missed. The computer works fine for the rest of the week.

However, now it's doing it again, won't boot to BIOS, no display on the screen, except this time the CPU led is staying lit. Can anyone give me an idea as to what the hell is going on here? The only reply in my previous thread stated that it might actually be the PSU failing, which would be relatively easy and cheap to replace. Or is it the CPU, or the mobo?

Asus P8Z77-V mobo
i5-3570k cpu
GTX670 video card
8gb Corsair Vengeance RAM
Antec BP 550W PSU

Hi snapzilla,

I suspect I know what your problem is.
I have seen this before in power supply`s and it is normaly down to one of the protection features of the power supply playing up.

The Power supply needs to reset the protection circuit.
If you unplug the cable from the wall for ten seconds or more then plug it back in and power the pc up it should fire straight up normally.

Try it next time it happens.

Shaun: I just tried what you said. This time the Boot Device LED came on and stayed on. It wouldn't load to BIOS, as usual, then it shut off after about 10 seconds. Every subsequent attempt results in the CPU led staying on.

anon: I have no other PSU that'll work here.

It's not the PSU. Got a new one, plugged it up, made sure everything was proper, and it worked!

Then later that day my comp froze and it went back to doing the same thing as usual. I've ordered a new motherboard, we'll see if that's the problem.

I am currently having a similar problem. I turn it on, fan spins, HDD spins, and the display turns on. However, the display is black, and sometimes it goes blue then back to black. If I move the mouse the cursor shows up. I think I turned it off during a background Windows update, and now it won't even revert back to the old version. Windows 10 sure likes to keep these vital updates a secret for some stupid reason.
