After many days of playing through again (4th or 5th time) I've got to
overcome a certain hurdle.
It's mainly connected to the fighters guild quests.

I've been given the order to kill Fire-Eye (whatever her name is) in
balmora. I have also got the other order to give her the bitter cup.
I would much rather give her the cup, but when I approach her to talk she
turns defensive and attacks, knowing i've been told to wipe her out.

Charm or Calm Spells make no difference at all.

Anyone know a way around this, other than slicing her up?
I really don't wanna go back to an old save 😱/

Some folk are only alive because murder is illegal.

If you have Tribunal and/or Bloodmoon, before approaching Eydis, issue the
following command:

SetJournalIndex FG_KillCronies 0

Then, after you've initiated dialog with her, you can issue the following
to return to the quest:

SetJournalIndex FG_KillCronies 10

If you don't have either expansion, you must skip dialog with Eydis
altogether and manually issue the commands that advance you in the bribery
quest for the Thieves' Guild:

journal TG_BitterBribe 50
Player->removeitem Artifact_BitterCup_01 1

Regardless of what method you used, you can now just go on to kill
Lorbumol gro-Aglakh, bring his name up in conversation with Persius, and,
assuming that you've brought news of your success to Stacey, he'll act as
if Eydis had been bribed all along.

unfortunately morrowind is a game that features choices

I try to act spontaneously in these situations where I'm not really
given any choice - she attacks me, so I must defend.
