Hi I've got an idea that I would connect my PC to my new network storage server, but upgrading it to 2.5gbs to be able achieve higher speeds.
But I want also connect my PC and server to my network, so I can still have access to the internet on my PC + keep sharing this server on 1gb speed with other devices connected the network such as my laptop, phone or security camera in the future.
I do have enough ethernet slots in my router for that, all I would need is two 2.5gbs network pcie cards connected into both PC and server.
But im worried if that would be able to do so, and if which OS and/or software would I need to do it.

Image to help ilustrate what I've got in my mind

This is easy and can be done even more dirt cheap with 10Gb if you use the sfp+ cards and a dac. A listing for a used 'kit' of 2x cards and a dac for $60 shipped:

The key to your setup is to manually assign static IP addresses on another private subnet for that pc to nas link. This way you can select when traffic will go over 10Gb. And there's a bonus 1Gb link that you can use the nas too by using the other IP address for the nas.

What do you use this server for?
What, specifically, is it?

Possibly a switch with 2.5g or 10g ports, and your PC and the server connected to that.
Any traffic between PC and server only goes through that switch. Anything else would go up to the normal 1gb router.

A switch, such as this one:
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/2...qnap-five-port-switch-109-dollars-QSW-1105-5T
Yeah I do want to avoid getting an additional switch if to lower the cost if it's not required.

It will be for storing a games, or pictures, or importand documents, and also a back up my all 3 pc's + maybe i will consider buying a security cameras so all its files too.
I need it as a separate machine from my main PC because im not using it all the time so it would save some money on electricity bill , but i would like also access it around the house, or from University seminars
