Connecting TV to PC problem

Hi,

Sorry if in the wrong but I am trying to connect a full HD Samsung 32" LED TV (ue32es5500) to my pc via HDMI.

However for some reasons when I set the tv's resolution to 1920x1080 the text and graphics are really messed up and part not all the screen is used (some of the left and right parts are black) so I have to set the resolution for 1680x1050.

Is there any way I can get the best out my tv while the resolution is on 1920x1080?

i had this happen to me. there are settings in the nvidia control panel that changes the resolution for use with tv's. something like Resize HDTV desktop.

PS: I have a HIS HD6970 graphics card not an ati..

the other thing i had to do was change my tv's resolution to native because of overscan. check to see if there is an option on your tv. there should also be some settings in ccc for scaling.

I know this is old but majju2 did you find a solution to your problem cause am still struggling with menus and options. I don't know what to else to try before i go and buy a "better" hdmi-dvi cable to see if that makes a difference :/

my tv is a samsung UE32ES5500 and my vga card is an msi r9 270x hawk.

Apart from the weird colors my eyes hurt in 1920x1080 resolution....like a bad refresh rate or something

Since I posted this thread in 2012, I have sold my old TV and bought a bigger one (47") and I am still having problems connecting multiple monitors and TV simultaneously but I guess the problem is coming from my graphics.

Regarding your problem, I highly doubt it is the HDMI cable, I would try accessing your graphic card software and try changing setting for your TV such as resolution (min old 32" I ended up viewing on a resolution of 1680x1050 which worked fine), refresh rate and colours and all the stuff till you are satisified with the picture!

Also if you TV has presets (for picture quality) like mine does, try changing them too

Thanks for the fast reply. I have been trying lots of different things with no result. Still viewing in 1680x1050 like you.The only difference i got at some point for better picture in 1920x1080 was to change a picture setting in the tv itself which made the colors better but i am pretty sure its not a solid solution rather a darker viewing preference that's less stressful for the eyes.
However if i manage to find something i will post
i also sent a question direclty to samsung about this.
Ps. I am not very brave to try very advanced settings with my graphics card since i cant afford to damage my panel.

For samsung tv's try this :
Go to your source menu and press the Tools button from the remote, there you will find another sub menu, choose Rename Device and pick the appropriate device from the list( PC in our case).
This solved my problem.
