Hi,

I work between home and the office. Both computers are connected to the
internet all the time (ADSL) and I would like to be able to log onto each
system remotely over the internet connection. Could someone please advise
me how to set up this sort of connection. I can follow instructions, if
someone could help me with the setting up. I assume this is like 'Remote
Desktop' but over the internet. Both computers are using WindowsXP Pro.

Thanks. Jane

Hi Jane,

Remote Desktop can be done over the internet. Click start/help & support,
then search on it.

You use Remote Desktop. Your networks need to be using Static IP addresses
or you need to use a Dynamic IP redirecting service like DNS2Go .

You need to have RD enabled on both systems (System Properties->Remote
Tab->Remote Desktop section->check box to enable. You don't have to click
the button and Select remote users .)

If you use a router with Forwarding ensure you open port 3389

Also enable RD in the XP Firewall (Windows Firewall->Exceptions Tab->check
box for Remote Desktop

Go to Programs->Accessories->Communication->Remote Desktop. Enter the IP
address for the computer. Then Enter the computer name and password.
