Connects but won't surt

Tablet is an Acer Travelmate C100. XP tablet edition with SP3. Problem started when work upgraded their APs in the building. Tablet so old that it couldn't even see the network. I bought a Belkin F5D8013 v1 from newegg. It sees the network, connects, gets a valid 192.168.xxx.xxx IP number, but won't do anything after that. I can't ping from C: promt, I can't surf, I can't even ping the router/AP. It doesn't matter if I use windows or the Belkin utility. Hosts file is clean, I disabled windows firewall which is the only one on there, (unless there is one in AVG 8, but I didn't see it.) it even reports that its connected to the network at 130kbps. Yesterday me and a tech from IT looked at this problem for 30+ min and neither of us could figure it out. I also have a question in to Belkin, hopefully you guys are faster.

Would love any ideas/help.

Solution
Will another computer connect and surf using this card?

In addition to the IP address, Do you have correct IP addresses for Default Gateway and DNS Server?

The tablet has no optical drive, so the drivers are from belkins site. Downloaded then transfered over to the tablet via usb drive. We haven't tested the card on a different computer. The IT tech is going to bring in a dlink G card tonight and we'll test it with that. If that one does work, I'm going to try to buy/trade it off of him. I'd love to trade him my new B/G/N card for his B/G.

Gateway address is correct, not sure about the DNS. I never checked it, and when I asked about a possible problem with the DNS because it wont' ping he typed on my keypad for a bit then said no. I'd assume at this point its ok.
