LOL

That's excitement for you! He finds the problem but doesn't say what it was.

Sounds like he had a power problem. Let's see if he comes back to let us know.

OK,

The problem indeed seemed power supply. The system booted but no screen. Both extra vga power connectors were connected, but i had some troubles booting at the start. After playing around with the cables i found a working "cable setup". Now this seemed not enough for the gx2 to boot in the 16x slot, only in the 4x slot. Hence the whole bizarre missing multi-gpu thing. The 4x slot doesn't allow it, but it does recognise 2 gpu's. I connected the power cables of the PS of another PC with the card in the other pc only, placed it in the 16x slot and DANG. It booted and i got my multi-gpu blabla which i wanted and payed for.

Good stuff, 2 pc's powering one :) lol

Thanks for all the effort !

Would 2 gig ram be sufficient to support Pro x64 in a performant way?
Yes

Hey how about 1 GB? Does anybody know how 64-bit runs on that? I got into reading this thread and got very curious on that because that would make the difference to me. I have an X2 4200+. Thanks!

After my crazy experiences during the past three days (I've been working full time on the rig neglecting my job and gf) I think I can conclude I will go with the 64-bit windows. I think when you have the power to go 64 bit, why stay 32? I don't feel compatibility of drivers will be an issue anyhow.

The 64 bit windows was running nice and smooth, the ONLY thing I could not install were the intel desktop utilities, but who needs those ;-)

After having tried both, personally the 64-bit seems more appealing to me and I am sure it will provide me another intruiging journey into the unknown.

Good info, I was away at a pre-maternity birthing orientation class, you know the husband gets dragged to it, boring, not intersting but necessary.... anyway, my mind wander to this problem and I was about to rush home and post --- did you check all the power connections and is your power supply big enough?

Jack

You're about to be a father? Congrats!!! 😀

Its a 460W server PS (found it somewhere in our HP office but its good quality) and I feel that for my setup, its a minimum because of the booting troubles at start. But it works, barely I think but it does 🙂
I feel I'm gonna need a bigger one for clocking though.

As for the memory part xii, windows 64-bit generally assigns the double amount of memory to applications then windows 32 does.
I think that for 64bit 1GIG will be the absolute required minimum, 2 GIG will be advised and 4 GIG+ for professional use.

lol, congrats man !!

Nice to share it here with us :)

And it's a boy !! You're gonna have a son 🙂

Preps.

p.s. I think for the first time in 3 nights I will have normal sleep again haha
