Hey guys. So I sort of have a dilemma.... By no means am I a tech wiz, just your typical hardcore gamer with the needs of good fps in gaming situations. Currently I am considering upgrading components on my computer but am currently unsure of what will yield the best overall performance through an upgrade.

My current specs are as follows from the top of my head as I am outside of the country:

GTX 760
fx 8300
msi evo mobo
650w corsair psu
8gb g.skill ripjaws
win 7 64bit
24" synaps lcd

I am confused if upgrading my gpu or cpu/mobo combo will give me the best bang for the buck in terms of performance as when I currently play games as Path of exile/Marvel heroes(hack n slash arpg's) I sometimes run into fps hiccups.. Also, is spending about $600 MAX CAD currency even worth the investment or not.

I had planned out to either purchase as follows:

ASRock Z97 motherboard
PLUS A
Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz

OR

r9 290 or r9 280x
PLUS A
Cooler Master HAF 912 RC-912-KKN1 - High Air Flow Mid Tower Computer Case as mine is straight up busted
OR A SECOND MONITOR
AOC 24" Class LCD LED Backlit Monitor /

OR just a single
gtx 970

Any thoughts or ideas guys? I am really confused at this point if any of the selected upgrades will give me a good performance upgrade and satisfaction or if it is just simply not worth it.

Many thanks, awaiting some input.

The GPU is fine, you don't need to really upgrade that. Especially for Path of Exile and Marvel Heroes.
If you haven't done so, you could just buy an aftermarket cooler and overclock that processor of yours. Personally, I'd get that i5. Maybe that case as well.

Hm...... So going from a 8300 to an i5 4960k would be a definite boost yes? Also is the z97 good? I don't want to spend too much if I don't have to. As for cooling, I have a Hyper 212 for cooling I believe. I think I'd have to toy with the voltage or something because I seemed to only be able to get it to not blue screen @ like 4.6ghz. The temps were superbly low though so I know it could go higher.

May not be a big, definite boost, especially since you already overclocked your processor pretty high it seems.

But the i5 does have the ability to be overclocked as well. If you could afford it, I'd say go for the i5. You could get a cheaper Z97 ASRock board and maybe still afford a case/monitor.
