Quick and dirty, I have a 5900X / RTX3060ti rig that generally does well even at 4k, but is much better at 1440p. However, the Asus KO card has minor annoyances (mostly the default unicorn-puke rainbow RGB), and a barter deal with a friend to build a gaming desktop for his kid (who would love the 3060ti), affords the opportunity to upgrade.
I now run three boot M.2s with W10 / Mint Cinnamon / Tuxedo, (mostly using Mint Cinnamon), and since it's oft said that Linux does better with AMD GPUs, I'd ordered a Corsair 1000W PSU and RX 7900 XTX. Since they've not yet shipped and various reviews of these cards reveal somewhat concerning details, I thought I'd do a bit more recon.
If I'm going to upgrade, I'd like smooth 4k gaming, I am pretty much disabled and use my PC from bed, with a 75" Hisense A6 that pretty much limits my FPS to 60 or so. So the obvious question, is the RX 7900 XTX worth it for this? Sources indicate a 2080ti or 6700XT might seem much better bang for the buck (if I can find one), but will either do 60 FPS at 4k?
Or are there other better bang for the buck options that I am not aware of?
