My computer started to restarting with a blue screen for the first time two weeks before. Now restarting happens like a three times a day. Is it a common problem in Windows 7? Can I get rid of this, if shift to Windows 8? I feel like this can damage my hardware too, and I'm already facing booting problems sometimes, like monitor is not displaying anything along with none of the keyboard lights aren't turning on, while the cpu fans are working, when the machine is powered. Please help me with the this problem. Here are two error reports, I received after two times of blue screen restarting.

I haven't used this software before. Is it trustworthy? Will it delete the saved passwords of my browsers?
And there are lots of download files under ** Memtest86+ V5.01 (27/09/2013)**. What should I download? My computer is a 32bit.

Memtest just tests the RAM. You burn it to a CD or USB stick and boot off it.

It makes absolutely zero changes to your PC.

If you have a spare USB stick that you can format, you want the "Auto-installer for USB Key".

If not, you'll need a blank CD/DVD and burning software (there's some built into Win7). Use the pre-compiled ISO (.zip; uncompress it).

Also, you have a PM from me.

I'll have to buy an empty cd. When it boots the computer, what do I have to and how would I know the result is ok or not? I checked the screen shots in there with a pass and test rate. What do those rates imply?

I PM back you.

It starts automatically, and should have a pile of numbers start moving.

If it passes, it should say so at the bottom of the screen - this can take quite a while. If it fails, there will be a bunch of red lines in the middle of the screen saying where it failed.

Thank you very much for valuable information! So I'll check my ram first and see what's next.
Thanks again!

I got another problem again.

Some parts of the task bar went black for a half second or second twice. It became normal again but an error message came saying, "Desktop window manager has stopped working." This taskbar going black thing happened yesterday for the first time, but it didn't show an error message then, but after about ten minutes of happening that machine restarted with a blue screen automatically.

And a few minutes later torch browser crashed and couldn't be restarted, but when tried to open torch it showed the error, "Torch has stopped working"

So I tried to repair Windows 7 using the dvd, it said no problems were detected. Then I used Windows 7 dvd's Memory Diagnostic Tool to check memory problems and the test was complete again with no errors showing up.

Then I installed all the drivers again from the motherboard dvd, as I couldn't think of much to do. After its installation torch browser started to work fine for few minutes and crashed again. So I uninstalled torch and re-installed it. It's working fine still.

I'm wishing the problem has been solved since I re-install all the drivers. Who knows though.
As I checked the hard ware using Memory Diagnostic tool of Windows 7 dvd, do I still need to check my ram using memtest? I've not used that Memory diagnostic tool also before. nor Memtest. Is Memtest better than the memory diagnostic tool? Or are they testing different hard wares?

Memtest has been suggested, so try it.
Might take several hours, so let it run overnight.

Is the Northbridge getting hot?
How about the power supply?

Really. I didn't know it will take that long. I don't have an empty cd or a memory stick that can be formatted at the moment so have to wait till tomorrow to do that.

It may be little hotter. But never knew their normal temperatures before. Since this problem started to today I've focused the room fan directly into the motherboard. So everything is at a low warmth there now. Vga is getting hot though.

(btw like to know to add my knowledge, what it suggests if northbridge is getting hot.)

What's the full specs of the system, including PSU? Not every platform has a northbridge.

The Windows memory tester does pretty much the same job as memtest, but not quite as well. However, you're getting enough issues that a very very rare fault isn't going to be enough.

It sounds to me kind of like a GPU driver issue.

Motherboard is a Asus P5P41T LE. Intel G41 chipset. Ram is a 2GB
DDR3 Kingston. PS is 450W Powerlogic. Processor is dual core 2.8

EZ Flash2 and vga is getting really hot as I can't keep my finger on for a long when the room fan is not on. EPU(I guess this is the north bridge) is at a very low warmth.
