We have a Tyan 8236 server board with dual AM Opteron 63XX processors. As I power on the board, the BMC and other health LEDs work fine and indeed everything is fine. However, we hear a continuous beep which is weird... I cleared the CMOS and powered on the board again. This time, after some seconds, the long and continuous beep is heard.

A 1 minute video is uploaded here.
What does that mean? In the manual, there is no description about continuous beep. In the video, you can see the POST page which says CMOS is cleared. Then I pressed F2 to continue.

In this video, you can hear the beep after some seconds after the power on. I think that is due to the cleared CMOS. If I power on the board again, I hear the beep from the beginning.

Any thought?

Yes I saw the video, but not a big fan of downloading things like that for obvious reasons.

I know it boots with onboard graphics, but it may still be looking for a graphics card too, the explanation above is not something I made up myself, its information copy and pasted from Tyan about what a continuous long beep means, in the case, VGA or RAM, or last resort a faulty board.

This is why I say have you actually entered...

Beep codes are here: https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwj11Pnq2p7UAhVEIcAKHSOnAPcQFggmMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tyan.com%2Fmanuals%2FS8236-IL_UG_v1.1.pdf&usg=AFQjCNFmckGE9L6J-hEgddAzPysx50RxCw

Are you using the correct type of ram in the board ? ie Server, ECC, non-ECC etc.

Continuous Beeping: Memory or video problem

Explanation: The system is producing constant beeping in no specific pattern, or a fast "ringing" sound.

Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the system memory, or possibly the video card. The memory is more likely--the system complains long and loud if it can't find any usable memory, as there is no way to even start the boot process when this is the case. The motherboard itself could also be the problem.

Also have you actually tried entering the bios and configuring it ? rather than bypassing around it, ie, tell it no GFX card is installed and that your using on-board etc.

Did you see the video?
the VGA is working and shows the pages. There are 8 memory modules each is 8GB. I just kept two of them, one for each CPU.
I am also not suspicious to memory modules. If you look at the video, just below the AMI logo, it writes two memory (1333). Also, the POST continues to boot the OS.

Is the speaker connected correctly? It could be on the wrong pins.
Edit: Oops, onboard beeper, so skip that unless you've connected an external speaker.

Are you sure you have the ram in the correct slots?
