Hi.
I don't know a great deal about computers and was hoping someone could point out the right device to accomplish this task.
I have an old 2011 Acer Aspire 5560 that isn't worth fixing. It started to just suddenly shut down. Sometimes it stayed on for a few minutes and sometimes it was hours or even days before shutting down. This went on for a few weeks. Then it wouldn't get past the start up phase before shutting down. I did go through the process of following a YT tutorial for the same model and taking it apart to clean out the fan, which was very dirty, but that didn't work. Same thing, would turn on but shut down anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds later after I put everything back together.
I already do back up all my photos and important files to my google drive accounts and an external HD I've had for a long time. And I made sure to do this when the problem started to happen. So I have like 99.99% of what I need. But if there's a device I can get for like $20 so I can explore my old hard drive then I wouldn't mind having a look. I now have my sister's old Acer Swift 1 from 2018, which has 3 regular usb ports and a type C.
Can someone please point me in the right direction on what I'd need to get to accomplish this. Thanks for the help.
