Hello,
I want to update my system from C2D E8400 to any of the above mentioned Sandybridge.
The board I'll be using is Asus H61 and RAM is Corsair 8GB-1600MHz. Only remaining component is CPU.
So what do you guys suggest to buy? My main purpose of this PC is BF3 and other games, and my playing resolution is 1920x1080.

Solution
Many popular games can use more than two cores. Buying a quad core CPU like the Core i5 can postpone the need for a future upgrade if you were just to buy a dual core CPU. Having said that at least the dual core Core i3 can outperform a quad core Phenom II x4 CPU.

I believe BF3 is a little dependant on the CPU so you should get better performance with the Core i5.

If money is a problem, core i5 2300/2320....better having a negligibly slower quad with turbo, than being stuck with a dual core in this age:)

Actually I use my laptop for normal use, sole purpose of my PC is to play games. So it may not be too wise to spend a lot on it. I want to know which one of the above can handle the BF3 with no hassle at 1920x1080?
