Hello, all
For the time being, I'm limited to the stock cooler that came with the CPU, but for some reason it's only ramping up to 1200RPM. Is this normal? If so.. I really need to find an 1155/1156 bracket mount for my Zalman 9900NT sooner than I thought.

I've triple-checked the wiring and mount points - everything's settled in properly

it's not the coolers fault then. Your MOBO decides whether it only runs at 1200 rpm or it increases with heat.

No, the mobo is brand-new. I had to literally reach in and manually start the fan spinning before the fan's motor caught on. And now it has this God-awful whirring noise.. ugh.

Your MOBO decides whether your CPU fan increases during higher temperatures. Read your manual. Some MOBOS doesn't offer that and only runs at a single speed.

... I opened my case while it was turned on. The fan wasn't even starting. It hadn't been since I installed it. I reached in and gave it a little nudge and it works okay now, minus the noise.

I already have a Zalman CNPS 9900NT, just no way to mount it - no idea where the LGA 1156 bracket for it went. I contacted Zalman to see if they still sell parts for that cooler, but if not.. I've got my eyes on the one that took its place, the 9900ALED.
