Hi, guys. Which one of these CPUs is better for gaming? Should I get the 4790K or is it not necessary? I want my build to last for 5+ years for future generation gaming, and I think that getting the K series enables me to OC it later. But I don't want to spend more money if 4790 is good enough.

So do you think that 4790 is enough? Or should I get 4790K?

Thank you in advanced. :)

Solution
They are basically the same CPU. The difference between a K and non-k intel CPU is that the K series can be overclocked. If you have no intention of oc then just get the non K version. But I think the -4790K is worth it. The i7-4790K is 4 GHz at stock, versus the 4790 at 3.6 Ghz.

The K also has a .4 GHz clock speed boost, and is well worth it if you can overclock.

Also, you may wish to consider a i5 4690K, which is pretty much the same performance wise currently. There's no doubt the i7's are more future proof though.

If you wanted to last your machine 5 plus years I think its worth to have a 4790K CPU Bcz after 3 or 4 years and you are in need for speed, overclock the CPU by a few hundred Mhz then you have overridden the CPU bottlenecking in games of that time.
