hello im installing a corsair h100 in my haf 932 full tower as we speak, but iv encountered a slight problem because i dont know which way the 2 fans which attach to the radiator should be blowing air should be moving the air, either pulling in or out, the h100 is being mounted on the top of my case if thats any use. should i be providing any other relevant information? thanks for any help.

It depends- are you referencing push and pull based on the fans blowing on your rad, or from the perspective of your case?

Regardless- On the rad, use fans in push. On the case, you want the coolest air possible, so you could use them as intake, or pull. If your case has great airflow, you can turn these to be exhaust.

Make sense?

as i look at the case standing up normally the 2 fans are below the radiator, so should air be coming out of the case , i.e up and over the radiator, or should my fans be blowing down and hence back into my case. there is pretty good airflow

It goes fans, radiator, case. The fans blow through the radiator and out of the case (in most cases). This is assuming you've got front and/or side fans blowing in the case and a video card blowing hot around all around the case. The 100 was designed to fit in most cases that have an existing dual 120mm fan blowing out of the case from the top, so this is your most likely scenario you will want to follow.

If you want to "pull" air through the radiaotr from the the outside (top) of the case, you shoudl arrange your side and/or front fans to be blowing air OUT of the case. What you're looking for is a flow from one direction to another. But given what I said in paragraph one, your easiest and most likely route is a front to back/up airflow.

With 1500+ RPM fans, you want PUSH on a radiator. Less than 1000-1200 RPM, you want PULL on a radiator.

Push/pull on a radiator does not have anything to do with push/pull in reference to internal/external case orientation...could be either, depending on actual airflow direction.

Coolest air over a radiator is best, even if it from outside the case. If you have great case airflow, it really shouldn't matter if these fans are moving air inside or outside the case, as long as the fan movement over the radiator is PUSH.

Rubix,
(nice sticky by the way) I definitely agree in regards to cooling the CPU....but when bringing outside air from the top of the case, I would be concerned about the air blowing on to the GPU...... Or are you saying the air from the radiator isn't really that hot, and the GPU will still benefit from the convection of that air being blown on it?

This is exactly what I am saying. The air from a radiator really isn't even lukewarm...and if you want to get technical, it should be around 10C+ of ambient room temperature, depending on your specific delta-T.

thank each of you for you help and support, at present i have ajusted my fans for optimal flow and have done a bit of research to try and better understand airflow, i truly appreciate each of your contributions.
