Hey,
I purchased this 520w corsair old style psu, and was wondering how this rail thing works here,
It has 2 slots for gpu 6+2
But on the table of specs it says:
+12v1 +12v2 +12v3
Each with 18a( i know u multiple by 12 and that gives u watts on each rail)

Where does the 3rd manifest?

Was thinking of combining it with a r9 280 requires 6+8

What are ur thoughts plZ

Hmmm. A 7 year old GPU with a 15 year old power supply. What could go wrong? The PSU only has a pair of 6-pin cables for GPU power. If you need an 8-pin for the 280 you're SOL. Adapters are not an option in your case. A 6-pin provides 75 watts and an 8-pin 150 watts. An adapter is not going to magically create the missing 75 watts.
Probably one rail is for cpu. Other 2 rails are wired to motherboard, peripherals and gpu. But HX520 is a Seasonic S12 OEM that lacks OCP so multirail is joke.
On the other hand, do you want to use a 13 - 15 yo psu. What's the rest of the system you want to fire up with this oldtimer?

It has a 6+2 and 6+2

12v1 12v2 and 12v3
Of 18a each
