I'll be using these pop-rivets for computer cases, http://www.mnpctech.com/Pop_rivets_for_computer_case.html

Most Computer Chassis will accept 1/8” diameter size Pop rivets.

Hmmmm.... debating about the factory feet

hc6.jpg

Sorry, these factory feet MUST GO!

hc5.jpg

I just wanted to see how this rad grill looked on the Obsidian, thats all

I see some Chieftec cues in the manufacturing. The Obsidian reminded me of the old Alienware ALX chassis. The texture of the Matte Black finish as well

The front bezel assembly comes off easily

SATA Hot swappable HD bays

I'm not a fan of the Corsair "sail" window design, I'll take it Squared for this one..

After a quick alteration! Square is better in this case.

The Motherboard tray will slide out, but you must remove 3x screws and drill out 3x pop rivets, located in the rear (shown in photo) It would have been nice if the rivets were screws instead.

Maybe you've debated about painting your Obsidian chassis. This is how I remove the plastic "Tool-less" 5.25 bay sliders without breaking the tiny plastic tabs inside. These tabs hold the slider onto the bay. You will need to bend the metal tabs as I illustrate here. You need to first file down the sides of the metal tab, so it will sit flush when you flatten it (not shown). I will then tap the metal tab with a flat head screw driver using a rubber mallet.

Keep in mind if you're painting your chassis, you will need to bend the metal tabs back into place after re-installing the sliders. Doing this will likely chip your new paint! so you'll have to re-touch these tabs again. After considering this thought, I've decided to eliminate the sliders altogether. Corsair has left the option of fastening in your optical drive the traditional way with screws. Only 2 screws per side, but thats sufficient enough!

absolute genius, it looks great. I agree with shovenose love to have it without logo,s but its just the thing for hardwarecanucks there guna freak... Just to say looking at these pics and turning to the right to see my standard obsidian the difference is mind blowing, also just finished adding all my fans, just waitin for my nesteq maxzero temp monitor and fan control to go with nesteq fanmax. just done my first overclock thanx to research from toms hardware and youtube @ 3.71 ghz so 2 year warranty on case then time to mod,its the only thing left that i can do and i should take to it like a duck in water(im a sheet metal wizard). thanxs again monstermawd for encouraging me and all the best for your business and family.

hopefully it wont be long till your next mod :)

Dark energy extracted from the most rare crystals found in the caves of dragons. 😛

No, but in all seriousness, it's really, really turning out great. I really like the silver and red. Really stands out. Shiny too!

I'd love to see some lighting on the inside, although that's really your call. White would be nice... 😗

I have an old beige P4-era case lying around, I need to do something with that now. :)

Cheers.

Being a Professional Case Modder must be so much fun...

Hmmmm... :|

zinosys - It can be frustrating. I live in a small apartment. I do not have a garage, workshop, or proper tools I can use. I am pretty much limited to drilling openings for case fans and switches. I have to go to my girlfriend's house so I can spray paint case parts on her garden patio.

I see where you're coming from. Yeah, my workbench is pretty limited. I haven't seriously modded a case before, either. I suppose there are things that could go wrong in the process too...

...But the outcome is definitely worth the work. :)

^^Lol, that one made me laugh 😀

I do my stuff on my desk. It's L-shaped, so the left side is for my PC and the right is a general workspace. Last week it looked like... ...a mess? 😗

Hehe, Cheers.

I'm glad ya'll like it. Thanks you for sharing your thoughts and comments.

The Admin at Hardware Canucks was very pleased, so I'm happy 😀

Indeed, but you're a starving artist...lol

Here is the final photos before it shipped off to Canada

Very nice final product Monster, good thing you took the pics of the finished product, just in case UPS fubars the shipment like the Antec 300 project you gave away.

Your work is as always inspiring to novice case modders as well to professional modders as well.

Look forward to your next mod and Always enjoy seeing your work.

Thank you medjohnson7! I really appreciate yours and other Toms member's support!

I was very happy to hear the Corsair case arrived soundly. I'm still waiting to hear about the video of the case. I will post the link once I get it!

Hardware Canucks has posted HD video of case. I was really honored to see this. They invest a lot of time into the production of their hardware review videos on YouTube and it shows!
