Looking at buying a new psu
The local price for the RM1000 $225 is and the local price for the G2 is $278

is it worth the extra money for the G2?

If you're talking about the base RM unit, then it's a not a great PSU. The RMi or RMx models are fantastic, but the standard RM 1000W model is not great.

What's your region? There might be better options.

Also, are you sure you need 1000W, that's usually only needed for rigs with 3 graphics cards.

I live in Perth West Australia and all that power is for an overclocked 5820k and hopefully a 295x2

So FYI, the TH guys managed to run 2 295x2s off a 1000W PSU... not that I'd recommend it with an OC'd 5820K, but a good 850W unit is enough: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/graphics-card-power-supply-balance,3979-5.html

Why not this modular Antec HCG 850W unit for $190: https://www.pccasegear.com/products/23797
It's got two 12V rails, so you just want to make sure that you take one PCIe 8 Pin connector from each of the rails and you'll be fine.

Or if you want you can pay $30 more for an XFX gold unit, single rail and fully modular: https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=27993&cPath=535&utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=cse&utm_campaign=export_feed#googlebase
