Hello everyone,

Today I have bought a Corsair Gaming K70 RGB keyboard. When I got home, I plugged the keyboard in and it works great. I can use it (like I am now) and the key all light up. But I can't seem to get the Corsair Utility Engine to open.

The software itself briefly runs (As I can see from the task manager) and the icon in the system tray. Within about a second the application immediately closes.

I have tried a few things such as repairing the software (Using the repair option on the installation software, rebooting my computer and using different USB ports for the keyboard.

Any help would be really appreciated - I have been looking forward to using my K70 and I'm a bit disappointed that I cant change any of the colours or macros on the keyboard.

Thanks

Ah, unfortunately the firmware update is accessed through the software.

Did you delete the files/folders associated with the program after uninstalling it then installing it again after that?

Try restarting it by right-clicking the icon and selecting "Quit", then launching it again. Try starting it in administrator mode.

You can also try an advanced uninstaller program that will scan registry entries and all files/folders that are associated with it. When using it, choose the most advanced mode.
Be sure to restart your computer after uninstalling and before re-installing.
I personally use Revo Uninstaller free.

Now that we've entered a phase with the registry involved: I don't take any responsibility for any damage caused to your computer by following my advice.

I have tried running it in administrator mode and I have used the Revo Uninstaller to uninstall the Corsair Utility Engine. I have re-installed it and it still wont work.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

this is true

Yes. I have also tried forcing an unexpected reboot.

Yes I agree with you that I'm right

Oh I see. Have you tried forcing an expected reboot?

I finally figured this out after about an hour of uninstalling and repairing - CUE wasn't launching no matter what I did... until now! You need to go into control panel ---> Device Manager ----> Keyboards - and manually uninstall everything in the keyboards tab (right click and uninstall). After that - ensure that the Corsair Utility Engine has been uninstalled (it didn't show up for me) and reinstall it. Everything works like a charm now.

Had the same problem as above for weeks now! But you Sir are a genius! Thank you very much
Problem solved! thumbs up!

Just also did this, and it solved the problem on Windows 10 64bit, Thanks.

Well this guy just solved my problem https://www.reddit.com/r/Corsair/comments/3p7i0u/corsair_utility_engine_cue_wont_start_up/ so it works for me now :)

I've continued to try things and the following worked for me:
1. Uninstall CUE (including profiles)
2. Check %appdata% for a Corsair folder. If it's there, delete it.
Go to device manager and uninstall everything in the Keyboard section.
3. Restart the PC
4. Install the latest version of CUE
