Hey guys I need some help.

I want to get an intel E2160(thats 1800Mhz).
My problem is that I dont know whether I should go for a :

Corsairs value select DDR-II 1GB-667
http://www.corsair.com/products/value_select.aspx

OR

Corsairs XMS CM2X1024MB-6400C4/800 BUS
http://www.corsair.com/products/xms2.aspx

I plan to OverClock my pc but I dont want to use any extra cooling equipment . I

read on Toms Hardware that Intel supplied stock fan with the E2160 works fine to

OC it to 3 Ghz from its 1.8 ghz.

Also I plan to get a Mother Board which provides up to 1333mhz FSB and support

for both 667 and 800 DDR2. I have an XFX 630i on my mind.

I would opt for the 800 MHz Corsairs XMS straight away but it costs more than

twice ( 2.5 times ) the 667 mhz Corsairs Value select ram.

What do you think I should go for and why? Is the extra money worth it?

Looking forward for your help.
Thanks

Value Select is not for OCing. It's for running at stock.

Having said that, if you only want a 333 MHz FSB you can run that Value Select at 1:1 and have 667 MHz Ram and not go over its specs. Or you could run 333/800 if you got the XMS. Or go past 333 FSB with the XMS.

It's all in what you want to do.

cnumartyr I want to overclock it as much as I can . SO if i get 667 then I would be able to overclock it to ( 9 * 333) == 2997?
Is that correct?

In that case I will go for the 667.
Oh and one more thing. If my board will support up to 1333Mhz Fsb , and I take it above 333mhz, is there a danger to my motherboard and Hard disk ..etc because I am going above the Motherboard manufacturers recommended speed .

I get it that it that if I take it above 333 mhz then i need the ddr2-800.

thanks

and one more thing If I do OC it to near 3 ghz, do you think I should go for a 380W power supply or a 460 W power supply. I dont plan to do heavy gaming.
thanks again

Not sure on the PS.. but I'd lean toward the 480W.

1333 MHz FSB is not going to hurt your hard disk or motherboard. This is assuming you get a half decent mobo that is capable of 1333 FSB.

ignore the value select, the 667/800 XMS2 should works fine. I have the corsair XMS2 667 paired with E2140, running at 3.2ghz stable on stock cooling (30C idle/54C full load). Go with the 480W since it leaves you more options for the future upgrades.
