Hi, I am in the market for an entry level PSU for a gaming computer, preferably from corsair as they are reliable and quiet. I wanted 650w to have plenty of headroom for overclocking etc, but I am torn between a cx600 or the vs650, as both are the same price.
My build:
I7 4790k
Gigabyte Z97p-d3
R7 260x OC
16gb 1600mhz ddr3 ram
Dgx5.1 sound card
4 case fans
Ps what is the difference between the cx and vs apart from continuous power? Is the vs 'higher up the food chain'?

I've used the cx series before and am very happy with their gaming ability, and considering my current psu (a 500w cit crapbox) managed to perform well, albeit quite hot, I am sure the cx at least is fine for gaming (I'm not running any sli or crossfire stuff. No pro stuff, just some casual weekend gaming on some reasonably low power games like cities skylines etc). Plus if they're good enough for chillblast, they're good enough for me. Just need to know which is best :)

It's better to be safe than sorry. You should have a Tier 1 or Tier 2 power supply for a gaming system. Skip the CX completely because it's Tier 4 and get a Seasonic like User3335 suggested.
And drop the i7 and get an i5 instead and use the money saved to buy a better graphics card.

I know it's a weird ass setup, but I can get a decent gpu next summer when I plan to upgrade for some complicated reasons(me and a friend are building at the same time as I am selling parts to him and stuff) . Is the seasonic s12sii bronze rated, and is it single rail?
