Solution Phillip Corcoran Jan 18, 2019 popatim : Nope, format. You format the partition, not the other way around. These days its Initialize and create Volumes now that were a long ways from DOS. LoL Just to be clear, Format is where you assign the drive letter at least in the old days. Not according to Microsoft. See steps 5 & 6: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17418/windows-7-create-format-hard-disk-partition. You can even choose not to format a new partition for the time being, but it will still have a drive letter.
