Counterstrike lockups online

well, like the title say... everytime i try to play cs online it locks up. i can play nolf, rtcw and ut with no prob... oh yeah, heres something...when i try to connect playing q3 i get an error saying i cant connect to the server and to go to planet quake or something like that. bothe are "non-morpheused" games, so they are legit in every sense. any ideas? my nic card is only a realtech cheapo.... i was planning on upgrading all of them....do we need any system info here?

i tried Morpheus..... but i didnt inhale....

Couple things to try. Make sure your using the correct drivers for your Network card, not the Windows general one. If your using a Router to connect to your Cable or DSL make sure you have added the Gateway address in your cards TCP/IP properties that your router uses. You can also go into your Sound Card settings and under exceleration or performance, dial it back one notch so it doesn't have to work as hard, it really will not be a hearable differance. Many times when this happens only on-line it can be a sound issue. Also try not using your Voice talk option in Counter Strike. Also check and see if your Network card shares an IRQ with some other device like your sound card, if it does try freeing up an IRQ and removeing and reinstalling one of the devices. Many times you can disable an Unused Serial Port in your Bios to free an IRQ. It's likly your Network and Sound card will jump to the New Free IRQ after you reinstall them. In some cases it my use the New IRQ without having to remove and reinstall. I have both my Serial Ports disabled on my system, I just don't use them.
