ive got a 9600k processor with a rtx 2070 and 16gb of ram , however when i play battlefield i get 100cpu in some maps and feel the slight lag because of the high usage. i was under the impression that with more cores id get better performance, because before i had a 4790k but soon learned that 4 cores wasnt cutting it for battlefield v. i upgraded to 6 cores but still seem to be having problems. thoughts? someone told me my RAM config could be an issue, suggesting that it be at 2,4 but i am not sure what mine is currently set at. im considering get a 9700k to solve all these issues but i feel like i shouldnt be experiencing 100cpu at all with a rtx 2070. i hvae liquid cooling too

motherboard : MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Plus LGA1151ATX Z390 Gaming Motherboard Z390GAMINGP

rtx 2070

cpu: i5-9600k

DXR 11 sounds like you’re looking at your DirectX setting. It’s either 11 or 12. 12 is required for raytracing. If you’re set to DX11 then raytracing isn’t your problem.

Do you have Future Frame Rendering enabled? If not try turning it on. It helped with my 1080ti and 7700k.

Are you playing at 1080p? If so that would make sense for your CPU to be at 100% which isn’t a bad thing if you’re not skipping frames or getting stuttering.

At 1080p the 2070 will be outperforming your CPU which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

8600k also gets high cpu usages in BF1, and BF5 would be the same. Not much difference between 8600k/9600k.

Lower frame rates is an idea. If you don't want to do that then 9900k would be best. You'd be looking at a cpu with Hyperthreading to help the primary core from stalling due to high frame rates.

More cores doesn't necessarily mean better performance when games are still heavily reliant on the single (primary) core despite games capable of spreading the load. That primary core can bring down the whole cpu and having Hyperthreading helping the primary core goes a long way.

Not sure why the newer gen looks weak when it comes to battlefield games, specially bf1 and bf5.
I have seen many i5 ( 6th to 8th gen ) getting hammed by Battlefield optimization, squeezing every bit of 0s, 1s from the CPUs LOL.

Even though 9600K is an 6 Core Chip, should not go high in terms of usage.
For Reference, i'm using a Intel Xeon W3690 ( 6 core / 12 threads ) very old chip from late 2007,
I can maxed out Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5 With my GTX 1070Ti with 80-100+ fps ultra preset, 1080p and with the CPU usage of 40-50%.

Hyperthreading, Waqas17 + High fps. One core is not enough. Games aren't designed yet to refrain majority focus from core #0, not sure if thats possible. You'll see, people will start asking the same questions regarding 9700k too. It's still early days but i was expecting some of these posts and here they begin.

Yes i'm not sure why intel came up with the Idea of 6c/6t.
More like cutting off the threads from real hexa core chips and making $$$$ out from it.
really bad move from intel.

Are you overclocking your gpu? That is where you can smooth out framerate. And of course set windows power setting to high performance. I see that the bios for your motherboard has been updated in November do you have the newest one? Also today the intel management engine driver was updated I would install that too

i didnt overclock anything , but someone told me it could be the raytracing . however i dont have the option of turning that on or off in settings in game. it just doesnt show up anywhere
