CPU and GPU Question

So, I once heard from someone on the forum that Nvidia GPUs require less from the CPU than AMD GPUs. Does this mean that a Nvidia GPU would be more compatible with a wider range of CPUs because it doesn't need as much? I need to know because I have an AMD A8-5500 APU, and want to know whether to choose an AMD or Nvidia GPU. The PSU has 650w of power.

Solution
That was true a while back- AMD DX11 drivers were not great and used more CPU power. Lately AMD has been investing a lot of effort into driver and feature development, so tests using latest drivers suggest that modern AMD driver is just as light on CPU as nVidia driver (I think it was Salazar science studio@Youtube who tested and proved it).
As for the graphic cards- unless you can buy used graphic card cheap- it is unwise to go for last generation. Latest generation cards are usually better deals. I would recommend RX470-480 if you can afford to upgrade your PC this year- (it is a great time for that), or weaker RX460-GTX1050 if you stay with A8-5500- which is really dated.
I've never heard anything to suggest that and AMD card would run better on an AMD cpu, but of course anything is possible. It's one of those things that's hard to compare; there's so many factors. Unless there's significant evidence I would be highly sceptical of any such claims though.

I just remember reading somewhere that the GTX 950 and up doesn't require as much from the CPU. But what you recommend getting with my A8-5500? I was once told that a GTX 960 or R9 380 were the best that I could do with the A8-5500.

Your CPU is not very good. Try your best to avoid bottlenecks. Rather upgrade your CPU since it's 2017, or if you have the money, only go as high as the standard gtx 1050.
