I am looking to upgrade my current PC so I can run Starfield (low-med). Thinking that CPU and GPU would be the most appropriate to upgrade with the system and the funds that I have. Here are my current specs:

CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Motherboard - MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max
RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB DDR4 3600MHz CL16 Dual Channel Kit (4 x 8GB)
GPU - AMD Radeon RX 5600XT
Power Supply - Corsair RM750 80+ Gold, fully Modular, 750W
Boot Drive - Western Digital Blue SN550 M.2 PCI-E NVMe SSD, 500GBOS -
Windows 11
Monitor - LG 27MK400H-B (27 inch, 1080p, 60hz)

Approximate Purchase Date: within a month. No longer than 2 months.

Budget Range: $600 - $800 CAD (pre shipping)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: CPU and GPU

Do you need to buy OS: No
Please note that if you're using an OEM license of Windows, you will need a new one when buying a new motherboard.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
Memory Express.

Location: Canada

Parts Preferences: by brand or type (e.g.: I would like to upgrade to Intel CPU)

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 will be upgrading in a span of 2 years, to 144hz. Sadly, dont have the budget for a 4k system.

Additional Comments: Upgrade sugguestions.

Here is what I have in mind but i am definitely open to suggestions:

Thank you in advance.

Just an observation, if you're not able to run your ram at DDR4-3600Mhz, you should be able to do so once you migrate to the B550 chipset, to complement your 5800x purchase, should give a nice uplift.

How old is your PSU in your build?

6750 & a 5800xt should work well, other option would be a 5700x and a 6800

What cooler do you currently have?
I got coolmaster evo 212, it's about 5 years old.

Thank you for the suggestion. My build is about 3 years old.

You should probably look for another cooler. 212 might handle a 5700x but likely will be underpowered against a 5800x.

Just be prepared.

I find that memory speed is more linked to the cpu not the board. Running 3600mhz on a B350 just fine, 4 sticks even lol. With the old 1600x 3200mhz was iffy, 3700x handled the 3200mhz just fine, 5700x got the good stuff, rolled the dice with 4 sticks @ 3600mhz and it's very stable.

Should be a great upgrade, went from a 3700x to a 5700x and it was noticeable. I have the 5700x overclocked close to a 5800x, not really noticeable in games, just benchmarks and the temp went up in those benchmarks but not terrible. Running a Deepcool AS500plus, wish the AK640 or ak620 was released when I built it.

What cooler would you suggest that is not a water cooler?
