So i have an i5 9600k and a rtx 2070. when i play wihtout vsync my cpu usage just goes to 100. it happend to me on battlefront 2 and on rainbow six seige and idk what to do. my cpu was recently replaced from intel because the last one just stopped working so i got a new one but the same model and everything. idk what to really do at this point anymore, i wanna play games without having to use vsync because i feel like its slower

Solution
Six cores/six threads is not exactly the cornucopia 'tons of threads to spare' scenario in gaming...

Any decent modern game, especially when paired with a good GPU...well, your CPU is going to stay at/near pegged. Only way to lower CPU usage (itself a questionable goal) it is to not waste time generating frames that can't even be seen above your monitors refresh rate, i.e, vsync.

Or, get a CPU with a 'more than adequate' thread count.

Personally, as long as you are not stuttering in your heavy action sequences, I'd just stop staring at CPU usage as something you think you 'need to fix'....
Watch this video to get an idea how frame rates affect cpu usages.

Not sure what level fps your system can handle in it's current state. Keep in mind, anything else running in the background (In Windows) consumes cpu resources.

A maxed out cpu can cause stutters and reduced frame rates because the cpu can't give anymore for itself, game and graphics card. Since you're playing on a 60Hz screen, you wouldn't really notice frame dips compared to say if you were playing on 120Hz+ screen. Wouldn't worry if your games aren't stuttering. But if they are, a cleanup of background running programs can help etc. I like a lean OS, no junk taking away performance.

so probably didnt play fps games but i can still feel it, im not making it up. it just feels slower having 60fps. i put my specs at the thread and im sure the cpu doesnt max at 100 fps in rainbow six siege. something just doesnt make sense here. i wish there was a way that would fix it

CPU @ 100% only means that the GPU can likely do more in that specific application with a faster CPU. Unless you are unhappy with the numbers you get - do not worry. It is normal. Are there any other CPU intensive apps in Task Manager (Processes tab, sorted by CPU usage) besides the game?

As others have noted, earlier
V-Sync which not only reduces fps to be inline with the monitors Hz it also introduces input lag
vSync is a great feature for fa$t monitors to prevent tearing. The slower the monitor the more input lag you will get when using it. More on what it does here.

i am unhappy, the other application is google chrome but other then that i dont really see something that could cause this.
Ok there’s a problem

Sub-optimal background CPU (19%). High background CPU reduces benchmark accuracy. Find active processes with Windows task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC).

You need to find out what program is hogging so much cpu in the background, that or you have a virus.
i might have one. any recommended programms to check for it other then malwarebytes which i already have?

so the reason my fps was 110 is because i limited the fps... ok now my PC was resetted recently so unless theres a virus that cannot be removed then idk whats causing the 100% cpu issuge. like i said before i dont mind getting 90 or 100 fps just dont want my pcu going 100 usage
