CPU Bottleneck?

Hey guys i was messing around with Dirt 3, running benchmarks and such, when I noticed something wierd. I normally game with Ultra settings and in Full HD resolution(1,920x1080) then I get around 33 FPS; however even when I turn everything right down(even the resolution to 640x480) I only get to around 68 FPS. Could this be a sign that my CPU is bottlenecking my graphics card? I thought about it because I know Dirt 3 tends to be CPU intensive.
My current system specs are Intel Core 2 Duo (2 cores at 2.4 Ghz), 2GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD 4770.

Low resolution = more load on the cpu

High resolution = more load on the gpu

Your cpu is not bottlenecking your graphics card.

We can call it a bottleneck but at very low resolution it is going to be the CPU that is limiting since the card hardly has to work. All in all your card and CPU are a good match.

Aah okay I see. So just to make sure I understand. When I upgrade to core i5 I should see a rise in the low res fps but not so much in the high res?

Yes some of that is what you see since then the GPU becomes the limiting factor!

this could be silly, but have you checked the fps with 4gb ram.
