I am still working on the system which seems to lock up at random. I took the case off and all fans are working. The shared IRQ are as follows
9 Creative Ensoniq audio PCI
9 IRQ holder for PCI Steering
10 Via tech 3038 pci to usb
10 IRQ holder for PCI Steering
11 ATI Rage 128 GL AGP
11 IRQ holder for PCI Steering
14 Primary IDE controller (dual fifo)
14 VIA BUS MASTER PCI IDE CONTROLLER
15 Secondary IDE controller (dual fifo)
15 VIA BUS MASTER PCI IDE CONTROLLER
It doesn't seem to me that these would cause and lock up conflicts. I downloaded a program from Download.com to test the ram called GoldMemory. It seemed to clear the test fine. I moved my jumpers from 4.5x to 4.0x taking 50mhz off the clock speed. This seemed to make it run a little cooler but it has still locked up twice on me today. What else can I do? Any ideas?

Thanks

Madison

Please detail your mobo, CPU, ram, HDD, windows,

When in lock up, what application was running?

is the lock up predictable and hence repeatable?

some more detail will help us help you, I don't think we need to go too detail into IRQ

I'm not sure if this works, in BIOS,set everything to default or slowest.

Best regards

This is my original post. The lockups aren't predictable. What else do you need to know about the system irqs?
Thanks

I have been working on a PC this afternoon for a friend whom complains of constant freezes. While just "exploring" this machine it locked up on me twice. It did not make any sound or give an error messages, it just simply haulted. The system is an AMD K6 450mhz with 128mb ram and a 10gig hd running win98. It is about 13 months old. I downloaded Sandra, the benchmarking system information program to grab so info. I ran the CPU, DISK, and 3D NOw benchmarks without fail. However the 5 times I tried to run the memory benchmark (which includes CPU, CHIPSET, CACHE, MEMORY)the system locked up on me everytime. The PC was running at 50.5C or 122.9F which seems a little warm but I did not know if this would effect it. The main board is a Pronix (Expox) 06/08/1999 Apollo MVP3 AGP/PCI set. If anyone has any ideas as what could be causing these lockups please help.

Thanks

I had a n epox board running a K62 450, it hung every time i ran it with generic RAM, switch the memory to a known brand, this solved my problem.
