I'm looking for an x86 CPU (that I can still buy first-hand today) that isn't particularly fast by today's standards, but is a solid all-round performer (eg. it doesn't totally suck for FPU performance). It's not for games, just for general apps usage.
Also, its temp shouldn't go insane like most x86 CPUs do today (insane = >40C on idle, I'm living in the UK), and shouldn't need a noisy fan or a heatsink that outweighs the case 🙂
