Hello guys, yesterday while playing need for speed most wanted 2012, my cpu clock speed touched 9505.5 MHz, is it even possible?
Would it damage my processor?
I got the reading using hwinfo64
My rig:
Processor: i5 3570 3.4 - 3.8 GHz
Motherboard: gigabyte ga-h77m-d3h
RAM: gskill ripjawsX 8 GB
Graphic : Asus gtx 650 ti boost
PSU: Corsair cx500

Could it be due to electricity malfunction?

That shouldn't be possible, especially considering your processor isn't even a k series intel processor. Most likely a false reading, much like how coretemp gives below ambient temps for my 8320 when idling.

Quick question, was the reading for a single core or all four? Additionally, do you happen to know the temperature when the clock speed got that high?

If the temperature wasn't ridiculously high, most definitely a false reading.

Lol, i know its weird, and my computer is stock no extra fans, nothing.

It's just a false reading man lol.. :)

The reading was for all 4 core's and the max temperature recorded during that session was 69 degree C, i am on stock cooling so i do hit those temp's especially with crysis 3 and splinter cell blacklist

It's gotta be false reading. Sensing devices can get disturbed or fail the same as any other equipment. I remember one time in high school physics we were measuring gravity by dropping a weight past a laser sensor, and for one of the runs the darn thing measured gravity as something like -.5 m/s^2. Pretty sure that was just a fluke in the equipment. I mean, I didn't see the weight float upwards or anything!

Aside from that, it could also be a software problem. Some random bug in the program reading the sensor output. Tons of possibilities. I personally wouldn't worry about it so long as your temperatures are staying normal.

Now something weird again, i am yet getting weird readings, at times 8 GHz or 11 GHz, but if on every boot i load the optimized default values at BIOS the max i get is 3791 MHz which is in tandem with my processor =/ my temps are all normal even with 11 GHz reading the temp maxed at 42 Degree C.
